Background
Honeywell Flour Mills Plc. (HFMP) is a major flour milling company in Nigeria and was initially registered as Gateway Honeywell Flour Mills Limited on in 1985. However, in June 1995, a change in the company’s ownership structure led to a change of name to Honeywell Flour Mills Limited (HFML).
The entry of the company into the flour milling industry in Nigeria redefined industry standards as its high quality compelled an improvement in the quality of flour products by other players in the industry. Over the years HFMP has positioned itself as a market leader in milling, processing & packaging of flour and other wheat based products.
After its initial public offer (IPO) in 2008, the company became a public liability company and was listed on the Nigerian Stock Exchange (NSE) in 2009.

Honeywell Flour Mills Plc. is part of the Honeywell Group, a foremost indigenous Nigerian conglomerate engaged in select businesses in key sectors of the Nigerian economy, namely: foods & agro allied; energy; real estate; services and; infrastructure.
Operations
HFMP is located on a four hectare land in the Tin can island port industrial estate. This strategic location provides for cost efficient receipt of raw materials. The Company’s equipment is supplied by Bühler AG of Switzerland.
HFMP presently has wheat storage capacity of 42,500MT while monthly usage varies from 32,000MT to 40,000MT. Its finished products warehouse has a capacity to hold about 100,000 bags of 50kg flour.
The company currently operates on a total installed capacity of 1,610 metric tonnes per day and plans to add additional capacity of 1,000MT/day to reach 2,610MT/day by September 2012.
Subsidiary
Honeywell Flour Mills Plc. has 100% ownership of Honeywell Superfine Foods Limited (HSFL) which commenced operations in December 2006 as a vertical integration of the company’s operations to develop, produce, market and sell flour-based semi-processed food products in the fast moving consumer goods sector.
Honeywell Superfine Foods Limited produces Honeywell brand of spaghetti, macaroni and instant noodles.
Quality Awards
In 2004, Honeywell Flour Mills Plc. received the NIS quality award for its superfine flour.
In 2006, it became the first flour mill in Nigeria to be awarded the NIS ISO 9001:2000 certification in recognition of its quality management systems, covering processes and production.
In 2007, the Company was also awarded the Mandatory Conformity Assessment Programme (MANCAP) by the Standards Organization of Nigeria (SON) in recognition of the quality of its Semolina brand.
As a result of these awards, the flour and semolina brands carry the NIS ISO 9001:2000 and MANCAP logos respectively as symbols of quality.
