Honeywell Wins HR Best Practice Award
Honeywell Flour Mills Plc (HFMP) has won this year’s Corporate Awards for Excellence in Human Resources Practice, otherwise known as HR Best Practice Award organised by the Chartered Institute of Personnel Management (CIPM).
The leading manufacturer of wheat-based food products, having competed favourably with over 25 companies operating in different sectors of the economy was announced the Overall Winner of the HR Best Practice Award at the 47th Annual Conference of the CIPM held recently in Abuja. Mr. Anthony Arabome, President, CIPM, while congratulating Honeywell Flour Mills on this laudable achievement, stated that “Honeywell’s emergence as the Overall Winner is a clear testimony of the integrity and transparency of the evaluation and award process. For an indigenous company like Honeywell Flour Mills to beat major players (local and multinational) in sectors like Oil & Gas, Telecoms, Financial Services, Manufacturing, etc., goes a long to show that Honeywell is a well-run company, especially from HR perspective”. Mr. Arabome stated further that “this Award has been given to Honeywell Flour Mills in recognition of its invaluable contributions to the development and advancement of the human resources profession in Nigeria. The evaluation process leading to the Awards involved very rigorous assessments and process audit of human resources practice conducted by Accenture”.
At a colourful ceremony held in Abuja which attracted over 1,600 crème de la crème of the HR profession and business leaders in Nigeria, Arabome noted that “Honeywell, like every other company, was assessed on service delivery, creativity, results, integrity, professionalism and team work in the practice of human resources. The company performed excellently in all areas”.
Human Resources Manager, Honeywell Flour Mills Plc, Mr. Tunde Adebayo, while receiving the award on behalf of the company’s Managing Director, Mr. Lanre Jaiyeola, who was unavoidably absent at the event, said “I feel proud and highly honoured to receive this Award on behalf of my company. We set our sights on the highest award in HR practice in Nigeria since 2012 when we emerged Winner in the Manufacturing sector at the maiden edition. As a company, we learnt a lot from the 2012 experience and this led to further improvements in our HR practices and processes. It is not surprising, therefore, that three years down the road, Honeywell Flour Mills is finally crowned the Overall Winner”. Speaking further, Mr. Adebayo said, “For me as a practitioner, and head of the HR department, I feel a high sense of career fulfilment and personal satisfaction that we achieved this success and recognition from CIPM. This goes to confirm that we have a great team of HR practitioners at Honeywell Flour Mills. This Award is dedicated to the Board, Management and entire Staff of the company whose support enabled the creation of an enabling environment for the institutionalisation of best practices in HR, and therefore made this Award possible. Management and Staff also actively participated in the assessments which led to the Award and what we are witnessing is the result of team work and commitment which drives all that we do. Honeywell Flour Mills is indeed a great place to work in”.
Mr. Adebayo explained that the process leading to the award entailed completion of an online registration form and assessment of the company’s activities and accomplishments across the HR Value Chain. Panel Assessment, Organizational Survey as well as Final Assessments of responses received from the different assessments were collated and analysed by Accenture. He emphasized that Honeywell Flour Mills Plc is committed to excellence in all facets of its business and as an ISO 9001:2008 certified company, all its processes and business transactions are done to international standards and best practices.
Other companies who also distinguished themselves at this year’s HR Best Practice Awards were Nigeria Liquefied Natural Gas (NLNG) and Shell Petroleum Development Company (SPDC) which came 2nd and 3rd respectively in the Overall Winner category.
